I regain this little combo a few class ago in the Lady ’s Border at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx . Red / burgundy is the theme here , and the superstar of the show is the architectural ‘ Oakhurst ’ Ananas comosus lily ( Eucomis‘Oakhurst ’ , USDA Hardiness Zones 8 - 11 ) . It ’s burgundy tones are subtly fit with the cerise bow of ‘ Dawn ’ genus Viburnum ( ViburnumXbodnantense‘Dawn ’ , Zones 7 - 8) and the deep Burgundy wine foliage of ‘ Bull ’s Blood ’ beets ( genus Beta vulgaris‘Bull ’s stock ’ , one-year ) . round out the jazz band is the faint white flowers ofGladiolus callianthus(Zones 8 - 10 ) .
