Yellow flowers worth growing
Yellowis a polarizing color for flowers . Some people think it is barefaced and tawdry and unpleasant . Others find it cheery and pollyannaish . Thesunny warmthof yellow can exhort up a dark garden , and looks great when unite with darker colouring . Today we ’re sharing some favorite yellow peak – what are yours ?
Any inclination of jaundiced blossom has to includedaffodils … the sunny essence ofspring . But there is a lot of multifariousness in daffodil beyond the classical big trumpets . This isNarcissusbulbicodium(Zone 6 – 9 ) , sometimes called the basket half-slip daffodil . It has a particularly elegant , miniature take on the classic daffodil .
Anemoneranunculoides(Zone 4 – 8) is a brilliant littlewoodlander , spreading easy to make a clump of sunshine .

This little yellow-bellied bloom is the lakeside daisy ( Tetraneurisherbacea , Zone 4 – 8) . It is awildflowernative to just a smattering of billet on the shoring of the Great Lakes . Though quite rare in the wild , it makes a gravid garden plant , with Mass of yellow flowers inMay .
Zinniagrandiflora(Zone 5 – 9 ) is a miniature , hardy , perennial species ofzinnianative to western North America . Unlike the familiarannualspecies , this spread out to make a long - bloomingground cover , with chicken flowers that keep coming all summer long . It is verydrought resistant , but does n’t do well in punishing , lactating dirt .
Japanese kerria ( Kerriajaponica‘Pleniflora ’ , Zone 4 – 9 ) is a slightly sprawling shrub that blooms for a very long period with brilliant jaundiced flower . The great feature of speech is that it is very tolerant of even quiet deepshade , still flower in spots where most flora wo n’t .

closelipped look at the Nipponese kerria blooms . This is the double flowered form , there are also single with just five petal to each bloom . Both are beautiful .
We unremarkably think of azaleas ( Rhododendronhybrids , hardiness varies by cultivar ) as beingevergreen shrubswith flowers in shades of garden pink . But there is a whole world of deciduous azalea specie and hybrids , many of them native to North America , with flowers in shades of icteric and orange . Even better , many of them arefragrantas well !
