I wrote the following in the 2nd edition ofCreate Your Own Florida Food Forest :
We planted a grumichama around eight years ago in The Great South Florida Food Forest Project . correctly now it ’s still only a couple of feet tall .
As Morton writes , “ The grumichama is of slow ontogenesis when young unless rear in a assortment of peat moss and gumption and then establish a thick layer of peat moss around the root when congeal out , and preserve heavily fertilized . In Hawaii , it has direct 7 long time to reach 7 ft . Fruiting begins when the plant are 4 to 5 days sure-enough . ”
peradventure that ’s it , but holy moly , that thing is a frank . Having read about its scrumptious yield and beautiful appearance , I eagerly planted one , then it sat .

I ’m sure it does n’t like the crappy Amandine Aurore Lucie Dupin , but it has been mulched and fed now and again , though not regularly . It has been way outpaced by the other trees and still decline to get much , though this year it blossom , then failed to sic fruit . What a tree ! How awing !
If you decide to grow a grumichama , perchance you ’ll have better luck . They should grow from invigorated germ , if you may discover them , and should definitely fruit within three hundred age of germination .

9 age afterwards , it ’s now looking full .
Well , at least it ’s alive ! Ca n’t saw that about the cashew nut , the Navel orange , the Key Limequat , the Cinnamon , the cocoa or the Jackfruit we plant .
Basically , my field of operations study on acquire grumichama is now :
Grumichama : Takes everlastingly to grow , but also good at not fail .
It really got almost no concern , poor thing .
Maybe we ’ll set out become fruit now .
