Things Needed
Tip
Harbor Freight sells tyre irons and other tire climb up tools .
Warning
The most dangerous part is sit down the beads , since force is required from the air force per unit area . Wear eye protection and protect yourself . Be sure both beads have seated before installing the valve and inflating the novel tyre .
Lawn tractor tires , golf pushcart tires , rototiller tire , lawn cart tires — most of these are small , tubeless tires and can be changed pretty easily with some elbow grease and a few simple tools . Heck , I have even changed motorcycle and car tires before with the same method . I adopt that you already have your raw tire ready to put in , so let ’s get begin .
Step 1
get rid of THE WHEEL — I seize you know how to take out the cycle from the tractor . Simply jack it up , support it with stands , unscrew the lobworm nuts or murder the axle pivot , and take away the cycle .
Step 2
LET OUT THE AIR — you’re able to push and hold the valve down until all of the air is out , or you’re able to use a cheap valve radical cock to unscrew and get rid of the valve . This is preferable because it ’s quicker and also when you reinflate the new tyre , it will inflate quicker and seat the bead well-to-do — more on that by and by .
Step 3
BREAK THE BEAD — This can be tricky . Many clock time , the tyre becomes stuck to the rim . You need to press the tyre down as tight to the brim as possible and break the bead . Here ’s how I have done it . Lay the wheel down in the driveway or garage and put a circuit board or ramp down with one end on the tyre next to the rim . With someone catch , easy drive your cable car up onto the wild leek until the weight of the car on the add-in pops the tire down and free of the flange . Lay the wheel on the trading floor or on a bench .
Step 4
REMOVE THE TOP BEAD — Place a piece or carpet or other trade protection on the flange next to the tire . Get out two tire irons and place them a few inches apart on top of the brim and under the tyre , as prove in the characterization . Lever the tire up and clear of the flange . go away the two irons in post and put the third iron a few inches outside of one of the two , on top of the rim and under the tyre , and lever that segment up and over the rim . Pull the middle iron out and restate prying up small sections until the whole beadwork is loose and above the rim .
Step 5
REMOVE THE BOTTOM BEAD — Now tear the bottom bead of the tire up so it touches the top of the rim . work from under the tyre now , practice the same technique to pry the bottom bead of the tyre up and over the top of the rim , as you see in the pic .
Step 6
CLEAN AND LUBE THE RIM — There is usually rubber or other gunk stay put to the brim that you want to remove . The edge of the rim that contacts the drop needs to be unobjectionable and smooth in ordering to varnish decent . When clean and shiny , spray the soapy water onto both the rim and the new tire beads to make them slippery .
Step 7
MOUNT THE NEW TIRE — Put the Modern tyre over the top of the rack and tug down with some force . You should be able to get about 1/2 the bottom tire bead over the rim . Using your tire irons again , lever the bottom bead over the top of the flange all the way around . Then do the same to the top bead .
Step 8
SEAT THE BEADS — With the valve stem turn still out , impound an air hosiery to the valve . It is potential to do this with a manual ticker , but MUCH easier with flat air . If you do n’t have a compressor , take the tire to a gas post and use theirs . The trick to this is go the bead loaded with more smarmy water and constrict the exterior of tire so that the bead touch the rim on both sides . If you have a ratcheting tiedown , you may habituate this around the circumference of the tire and tweet it so that the bead touch the rim . balloon the tyre until you find out two flash POPS as the two astragal seat against the rim . You may have to overinflate the tire more or less . Be certain to do this safely .
Step 9
REPLACE STEM AND INFLATE — Once the beads are seated , let out the atmosphere , replace the valve into the prow and inflate the tyre to the right pressure .
Step 10
MOUNT THE WHEEL — Replace the wheel back onto the tractor and tighten the lug nuts to the proper torque or reinsert the axle bowling pin . You ’re done !
