In a Vase on a snowy Monday.
Well here we go again . The Beast from the East Mark 2 or Darcy as we have to call her this time . I was going to write about my winter garden today and now the whole thing is a winter garden ; white , icy , cold and monochrome . The Pianist think it reckon beautiful and asks me where my esthetic signified is . So to please him I put on my bear lawsuit onesie and went out and looked at it , on the condition that there would be no snowballs , snowmen , snow angels or any of the fatuous things uprise the great unwashed find to do in the snow . in reality , wearing four deep jumpers , two pairs of trousers and a furry bear suit ensured he did n’t suggest we went walk out of the garden because I look like an ursine Michelin humanity . So , here it is , my first coming into court on my web log , My neighbours do n’t get to see this sartorial sight but you do . perchance the flavour will catch on . But perhaps not , as you may see I am not a happy bear .
This is supposed to last all workweek and beyond . What with endless lockdown , coalesce with arctic conditions , we will all end up as white - eyed troglodytes , specially if like me you loathe the clobber . I for one will be a very unhappy bear .
Anyway , we made our way down the garden . As you may see , nothing but blank clobber .

And here is the actual winter garden looking very wintery indeed .
I design my garden for colour and interest all year round so that there is always something exciting and beautiful to enjoy even in the depth of winter . On Friday myDaphne bholua‘Jacqueline Postill ’ was looking and smelling ecclesiastic .
Today she look like this .

BeautifulHamamelis‘Vesna ’ was look fabulous too .
But now she is encased in snow .
But I congratulate myself on having something to piece all yr round , there must be something . I call up I would pick some dainty Pussy willow tree , Salix‘Nancy Saunders ’ but the pool has risen so luxuriously after invariant rain that I would have had to swim out to her on Friday , and today I would take skate . This pond has never been so full . I did n’t go near in case I fell in and was never see again .

But I managed to get a few catkins and some sprig of the pink puss willow , Salix gracilistyla‘Mount Aso ’ .
I know there was a pink jacinth buried in the snow so I dug her out .
Somebody asked me if myClematis cirrhosavar.balearica‘Wisley Cream ’ is hardy . She seems to be coping so far under her roof of Baron Snow of Leicester . So I peck a couple of sprigs .

And then after cutting a few sprigs of the red stemmedCornusBaton Rouge ’ I had to admit defeat and go and see what I could find to pick in the greenhouse . I picked a liiac flower of my carnivorous plant which is a butterwort , orPinguicula vulgarisand to pit it I picked one littleIris reticulata ‘ Painted Lady ’ . And then I picked a few wicket petticoat narcissus and that is all I could manage today .
So there we have it my Beast from the East posy . And give thanks you to my friend , Cathy atRambling in the Gardenfor encouraging us to go out and find something for a vase even on the bleakest of mean solar day . Very presently I shall post about my wintertime garden , not as it is now , covered in ugly snow , but as it was on Friday when the sun shine and spring seemed to be in the atmosphere .

You look like Abominable Snowman in brown ! Well , you did manage to salvage a few part from your winter garden while entertaining me with your story .
Well , you are intrepid ! Having spent my intact living in one area or another in coastal Southern California , snow pass over scenes always look alien to me , as well as serene and beautiful . I ’ve really only discover nose candy in person a handful of time in my life-time . I bonk my visit to Alaska years ago and would gladly travel to there again – in the summer . I ’m impressed by what you find under all that snow , although I suspect I ’d have been inclined to savour the white landscape from at bottom and would ’ve throttle a flower lookup to your wonderful glasshouse .
Oh my good , I ca n’t reckon have so many thing flower and then getting a grownup snow ! We have a long ton of Charles Percy Snow , but nothing anywhere close to bloom . I totally empathise not wanting to be out in it … but I conceive of your temporary are not bad , especially in a full-grown pelage . I desire the snow melt fast so your flora will be glad . 🙂

I suppose your garden look beautiful in the coke Just like your pianist ! Tony is not a fan of snow just like you . We have portion snowdrops here in our northern garden and much lighter evening . Love the delicate flush in the vase .
