Today ’s photos are from Joanne Niekamp in Ohio . She says,“My married man and I live in a little southwestern Ohio town in the middle of farm land . We build up our home 34 years ago on what was fundamentally an open field . We both arrive from family that instilled in us the love of flower and maturate thing . Our garden is filled with well - loved hand - me - down plants that I have divided over and over again . I call it our promenade garden , as each day during the growing season , my husband and I walk through our yard to see what ’s blooming .

“ Our back yard is a certified wildlife habitat . We examine to draw in birds with aboriginal tree and shrub , raspberry bird feeder , and water . We have a elevate bed , built by my husband , that deepen from week to calendar week , with perennials and shrubs come in and out of bloom from April to October . Arbors separate the dissimilar areas into garden rooms . The front terrace is where I satisfy my dear of annual . As the perennial flowers ebbing in the August heat , the annuals take the starring function . We sit peacefully in the evening , watching the hummingbird and yellowbird derive in for a boozing .

“ Our three children now bring our grandchild to delight the garden , as our children enjoy it when they were younger . As I watch the grandchildren smell the flower , pick bouquet , and poise themselves as they walk along the low Harlan F. Stone bulwark , I hope the honey of gardening is pass on to them as it was make pass on to us . ”
