Like computer problems , the more glitches you get , the more you learn .   Ditto for gardening : every catastrophe teach something new , especially when weather sends us an error substance on the new “ plantform ”   that we ca n’t refuse . Well , we would n’t be gardeners if we just settle for current “ media ! ”   Though I ’ll always settle for my beloved Narcissus Erlicheer that returns , drouth or hard freezing .

And   aboriginal Mexican plum tree with its wise fragrance and flowers every other spring .

I do run to lose all the fruits every year . I ’ve learned that I need to water it in summertime and fall .   Operator erroneous belief .

Narcissus Erlicheer

Bu I get a thrill out of new software ,   like myArum italicumthat I planted a few years ago . It has been a reliable cool weather comeback in the shady smirch under the island bed mountain laurel .

When it languish in the rut , Drimiopsis maculata(African hosta ) comes in . I reverence they would n’t come back after the gruelling halt , but they ’re tougher than I mean . Wonderful colour and texture in that shady spot we all necessitate to deal with .

To my surprisal , my hyacinths , Hyacinthus orientalis‘Sky Jacket ’ , render every leaping . I only have a few , but guess I ’ll infix some more next yr for a bolder substance . Oh , do I say “ next year ” too often ? !

Mexican plum flowers

I can always count on Narcissus Falconet , when others did n’t withstand my bulb upgrade for long .

And Dutch iris .

Dutch fleur-de-lis were my starter bulbs when I did n’t have a lot of cash . Although I ’ve lost some over the years , I still have the first ones I ever plant as a trade name new nurseryman .

Arum italicum

I only have two of the ‘ Scotty ’s Surprise ’ oxalis , discovered byScott Ogden . Their yellow flowers will soon fetch a wonderful Linda surprise . This year , I ’ll seek to divide them .

If you have pathways , they really do need aboriginal gilt groundsel ( Packera obovata ) .

Some plants are still thinking about thing . allow them reckon a little , and I bet you ’ll be surprised .

Drimiopsis maculata

Do n’t take the shovel to them just yet !   With the weather swings right now , the plants are scrunch up for safety .   Unlike us , they ’re not unpacking underdrawers just yet .

One of my “ recuperate ” softwares is the Mangave ‘ Macho Mocha ’ , a dear passalong fromPam Penick . It looks horrible in this pictorial matter from a few weeks ago , but already , I see leaves from one and   whelp from another .   Nature ’s “ international backup . ”

Until next hebdomad , Linda
