Where did all of this stuff come from ? I ’m compose this from our living room futon , hemmed in by a somewhat intimidating mini - Grand Canyon of furniture and stacked boxwood . No , I ’m not a hoarder . ( At least , I did n’t think I was before surveying all of this stuff ) . We just had to empty our two bedrooms and my home office so we could rip out the prehistoric carpets ( major eww ) and the installer could unfurl sportsmanlike , unsmushed novel unity in their place .

Do n’t inquire me why we decided to take on re - carpeting the planetary house before Christmas ( as if the holidays were n’t feverish enough ! ) . I mistrust it may have had something to do with my husband and my subconscious need for a major project that would keep us too interfering to mope around as we continue amount to terms with our daughter leaving the farm - nest for college . But right now , it just seems like absolute insanity .

And as an environmentally - apt person who seek to embrace the “ reduce , reuse , recycle ” mindset , I ’m dismayed to discover how much stuff we ’ve accumulated over the years and get up into our 1,500 - straight - foot home . There ’s stuff bought from stores , parsimoniousness shops and K cut-rate sale , and stuff pay to us . There ’s token stuff made in land we ’ve inflict , some stuff made justly here in America , and way too much stuff made in China . There ’s stuff we needed ( a brightness to read by ) , stuff we did n’t need but require ( CDs and DVDs ) , and hooey we did n’t need and do n’t remember ever need . ( Certain items I wo n’t discover on the off chance they were given to us by someone who scan this . ) I seem to have an entire forest ’s worth of newspaper stuff and nonsense here , too :   books ( my big weakness ) , save magazine , and files brim with travel folder and old stories . Oh , and do n’t forget the boxes of kitschy material :   photo and Kelsey ’s score school artwork and more . Don’t even get me go on our external farm hooey .

Realizing we have too much clobber in too niggling blank — clobber that necessitate to be dusted ( um … sometime ) and mostly weighs us down like an overstuffed back pack — I’ve decide to undertake a stuff - cast mission as we put thing back . And with Christmas speeding toward us , I find myself thinking more along the lines of giving ( and wish for ) hooey — I mean presents — that wo n’t linger too long . Things like soaps , coffee , homemade chocolates or herbal jellies .

I wonder , what talent do you give or wish for that do n’t bring to all of the material ?
