Houseplants to the rescue!
Surinder Chadha is welcoming us into his indoor garden today .
I subsist in northerly New Jersey , where I have a expectant outdoor summer garden from May through October . Being an avid gardener , I also have an indoor winter garden from November through April . For indoor gardening , space is an progeny . Luckily , my habitation has high ceilings , and I hang most of the bombastic plants from the cap . Some hanging baskets are as bombastic as twenty column inch . Every year I have between 80 and 100 indoor plant life , include multiple varieties of begonia , philodendron , yews , fern , Tradescantia(Tradescantia zebrina ) , ivy(Hedera genus Helix ) , geranium(Pelargoniumhybrids ) , and spider plant(Chlorophytum comosum ) . In addition , I have a few very fragrant flower plants such as queen of night and jasmine , as well as a collection of spring- and wintertime - flower cacti , jade plant(Crassula ovata ) , ever flower oxalis , pepperoni , snake plant(Sansevieriasp . ) , and a few other varieties .
Surinder ’s indoor garden . The large window and skylights keep that multitude of flora happy .

A large begonia acquire enough light from these windows to stay in full flower . The contrast to the drab , wintertime view alfresco could n’t be stronger !

A blooming begonia takes situation of pride .

Plants tumbling down from hang containers make this beautiful way feel like it is in the middle of a hobo camp . Not a bad trick when it is really the midriff of winter !
More lush , felicitous , hanging plants cast the sentiment . If you want to recreate this look in your own home but are n’t lucky enough to have as much luminosity as Surinder , try starting with a golden pothos ( Epipremnum aureum ) , which is the flora that is tumbling down the correct side of this photo . It is incredibly kind of less - than - ideal conditions and can sate nearly any way with greenery .
