Bright colors in a new garden
Today we are seeing exposure of Ray Jones ’s garden .
My garden is on new structure . This was a pasture a few years ago and is in Palo , Iowa , Zone 4b/5a . I grow a mix of perennials , tropicals , andannuals . Much of the thou is still in process .
My favorites this year were thepetunias‘Vista Fuschia ’ and ‘ Vista Paradise ’ ( zone 10–11 or as annuals ) . citizenry stop and take motion-picture show of the front of the house .

This is one of the genus Allium hybrids , either ‘ Millenium ’ or the very similar ‘ Serendipity ’ ( both zone 4–8 ) . Unlike the spring - blooming bellied genus Allium , which flower and then go dormant , this is one of thesummer - blooming rhizomatous alliums , which flower heavily and have foliage that stays green and attractive the whole growing time of year . In front , Mass of bright annual genus Vinca ( Catharanthusroseus , Zones 10–11 or as an yearly ) bloom .
This swallowtail butterfly stroke is a large rooter of the allium blossom as well .
The front of the home let in a blaze of color from the petunias . you could see why this planting is literally stop dealings !

Behind the masses of bright petunias is a course of caladiums ( Caladiumhybrid , Zones 9–11 or as tippy bulb ) with nearly only blanched leaves . Caladiums are often recommended forshade , but they can grow in more Lord’s Day , specially if temperatures are cooler and they have plenty ofwater .
Behind the hell of petunias , a improbable canna ( Cannahybrid , Zones 7–11 or as a tender bulb ) with bright yellow - striped foliage add more colour to the planting .
canna do n’t just have colorful foliage ; they have beautiful flower as well .

Coleus ( Plectranthusscutellarioides , Zones 10–11 or as an annual ) is the king of colorful foliage , with varieties that will thrive in sun or spectre .
A brilliant jaundiced coneflower ( Echinaceahybrid , Zones 4–9 )
And aconeflowerin brainy orange . The former colored coneflower hybrids were beautiful but lean not to last long in the garden . The newer breeding has produce skilful garden plants that are more dependably recurrent and that flower like crazy .
